Clarinet, Without a Net

Greetings!

I hope that 2026 is treating everyone as well as possible, thus far! Things are chugging along with the crowdfunding campaign for my upcoming album, "Clarinet, Without a Net."

Here's how Kickstarter works -- if I don't reach my funding goal by the end of the campaign (January 31), all of the pledges are refunded and I get absolutely nothing. So every pledge helps get me closer to my goal. If you've been waffling about supporting me via Kickstarter, let me sweeten the deal by promising to share any and all Nobel Prizes I might win with you.

Apart from that, I like to think I've crafted a nice menu of rewards and incentives. Take a gander at the link below. And, look -- I know times are tough -- if you can't financially support the project at this time, you can still share it with your networks and help me in my ongoing battle against obscurity and irrelevance.

I've just released the video for the first preview track from the new album. A clarinet-centric cover of the Carole King/Gerry Goffin classic "Will You Love Me Tomorrow." I'm quite proud of how it came out, so please check it out below.

While I'm working on the new album, I'm still gigging like a madman! As always, please check out the full schedule on my website. But a few highlights for the next few weeks I want to bring to your attention:

Six concerts in four days in and around Asheville, North Carolina with concert pianist Daniel Weiser. If you've got any friends or family in that neck of the woods, let 'em know!

And then, a return to another one of my favorite venues:

Sunday, February 1 -- New Deal Cafe

113 Greenway, Roosevelt Center, Greenbelt, MD 20770

6 to 8 pm

I'll be up to my usual swing, jazz, and klezmer hijinks with help from vocalist Flo Anito, guitarist Kristoffer Belgica, and bassist Bob Abbott. As always, there's no cover at the New Deal, although tipping is encouraged and appreciated. Arrive early if you want a good seat!

Back in Baltimore, I've got a rare weeknight concert at a wonderful new venue for Jewish music.

Tuesday, February 3 -- The Katz Music Center (Moses Montefiore Anshe Emunah)

7000 Rockland Hills Drive, Baltimore, MD 21209

7:30 to 9 pm

This will be a mostly klezmer concert (with a few digressions into jazz and swing) with guitarist Michael Raitzyk and bassist Bob Abbott. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.
